Driving diversity and inclusion

International Women’s Day is more than just a celebration of women’s achievements; it’s a global call to action for gender equality. This year, the theme of Inspire Inclusion resonates deeply with the mission of fostering diversity and inclusivity in workspaces worldwide. At Wiserfunding, we recognise the urgency of investing in women and accelerating progress toward gender parity.

In this blog post we’ll explore the significance of International Women’s Day, drawing insights from the World Economic Forum’s theme of #InspireInclusion and the UN’s call to “Invest in women: Accelerate progress.

The need for gender equality in work life

According to the World Economic Forum’s Global Gender Gap Report 2023, achieving gender parity remains a distant goal, with an estimated 131 years required to bridge the gap. Gender equality is not just a moral imperative; it’s also central to achieving the Sustainable Development Goals set forth by the United Nations. SDG5 specifically calls for gender equality and empowerment of all women and girls by 2030, highlighting the critical importance of inclusive work environments for driving social and economic progress.

At Wiserfunding, we are committed to advancing gender parity and recognise the urgent need to invest in women across all sectors. Our dedication to gender equality extends beyond; it underscores our fundamental belief in the power of diversity to drive innovation, creativity, and sustainable growth. By championing women’s empowerment and fostering inclusive work environments, we aim to contribute to a future where every individual, regardless of gender, has equal opportunities to thrive and succeed.

A catalyst for growth and peace

Investing in women isn’t just the right thing to do; it’s also smart economics. Studies have shown that empowering women can boost economies and contribute to peacebuilding efforts. However, progress towards gender equality needs to happen faster, as emphasised by UN Secretary-General António Guterres. At Wiserfunding, we believe that promoting women’s full and equal participation in all sectors of society is not just a matter of fairness; it’s essential for driving innovation, creativity, and sustainable growth.

International Women’s Day has evolved into a global movement for gender equality. It’s a day to honour the achievements of women past and present, to reflect on progress made, and to renew our commitment to advancing gender equality. We join the global community in celebrating International Women’s Day by recognising the invaluable contributions of women in work life and beyond.
